Powertex wins LEEA Sustainable Award with r-PET slings and lashings!
Powertex, the renowned brand of Axel Johnson International – Lifting Solutions Group, has won the 2023 LEEA Sustainable Award for its innovative r-PET products. The r-PET lifting slings and lashing straps are made from recycled polyester material, which reduces the carbon footprint and environmental impact. These products are the first of their kind in the market, and Powertex is proud to have been recognized for its commitment to sustainability. The award was announced in Liverpool at the LEEA Awards ceremony on November 21, 2023.
r-PET Products bring new innovation
The r-PET products that Powertex introduced earlier in the year consist of textile lifting slings and a web lashing made from recycled polyester (r-PET) material. Traditionally, Powertex PRS Round slings, PWS Webbing slings, and Trucker web lashings are manufactured using virgin polyester. Utilizing recycled raw materials effectively reduces the carbon footprint associated with producing these essential lifting solutions. To accurately quantify the climate impact reduction, Powertex collaborated with a reputable third-party consultant to conduct a climate calculation from a life cycle perspective (in accordance with ISO 14067). The results are remarkable, demonstrating an estimated reduction of 75% in CO2e emissions for the round sling, 70% for the webbing sling, and 42% for the web lashing compared to their traditional polyester counterparts.
